Being back here for the second time or third time rather if you include last year’s short holiday, has made me appreciate a lot of things.
For one thing, home, no matter how far or long you go away for, home is the one thing that you know is constant, is stable and, consistent.
Besides that, friends are people who you can count on, whether you are physically present or not. They are the people who check up on you once in awhile, they are the people who ensure that the bet you made with them on whether you could survive such a long period away from home is not forgotten.
And last but not least, are the simple and small stuff such as the smell of your room or the sound your fan makes every time you on it. Yes it may sound like much but those are the little things that remind you that you’re home.
So yes, I miss home, but with time by passing so fast, I know that my return is only a matter of time or what I would like to say inevitable (basically means my parents don’t have a choice but to pay for my flight).
On a lighter note, most of my friends or the people I grew up with are now in their degree or some even graduating already. It is indeed the time of our lives and a time to celebrate.
For instance, this guy, that goes by the name of Shaun Liew Soon Yeow, was first an Interact Club senior and then he was my girlfriend’s brother, but sooner or later he became a friend, a mentor.
I still remember the last time I saw him was at Bliss 33, USJ 2. We sat down having drinks and rekindling the “old days” when we were highly active in the Interact Club of SMK Seafield. That was September last year, and a couple weeks before Shaun had ever laid eyes on the city of Leeds.
On July 21st 2010: He graduated from Leeds Metropolitan University with a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Managing International Hospitality.
On that note, I would like to congratulate Shaun and hope I can achieve half of what he has already done in such a short period of time.
