Compassion

"The best way of forgetting something is by commemorating it," said Irwin in the movie "The History Boys".

However, true that statement maybe, I have found that remembering those who have passed on is not as difficult as it is made out to be. In the past, we built monuments to commemorate those who have contributed or were a public figure as a way of expressing our remorse and appreciation towards them.

Today, we have social media. Facebook has become a very prominent way of expressing our feelings be it glee or remorse. And unfortunately in the past 12 months, I have lost a few acquaintances but what I have discovered today is that they are not forgotten. For instance, till today Andy Gan (Ex-Seafieldian, Ex-Malaysian amateur golfer) who lost his battle with leukemia last year still receives weekly comments on his Facebook page. And same goes for a few other people.

This just shows the world still does has hope. It shows that we humans still do feel compassion.
