Who Knew

Anybody recognise this guy?Anybody can tell me whats his name or what does he do for a living?

If you haven't already figure out this guy is Kid Chan, one of Malaysia's top photographers and active socialite. Funny thing is the first time I heard of him was from my dad when we were unfortunately waiting for my poor brand new Saga to come out from the workshop.

Dad:" Kid Chan famous photographer?tak tau?
Me: "like haiya photographer only mah how big or how famous can he be?"
Dad: "Hello photographers can make a lot of cash also okay"

Little did I know those words would come and haunt me back. In the mist of this economy recession, I have been wondering if I took the right choice by studying mass communication. Afterall we all know mass comm generally is very competitive and they is not as lucrative as other professions like a lawyer or a doctor.

So today while waiting for the newspaper to arrive to the office, I went googling again and I bump into Kid's blog (www.kidchan.com) and after just a few post I was immediately impressed by his skills and creativity. The way he looks at photojournalism is like Tiger Woods playing golf, they both look from every angle. Kid is a well renowned wedding photographer but he also does corporate functions. Along with his wife, they started KIDCHAN studios which has a very impressive resume. Clients range from Datuk Siti Nurhaliza all the way to Naza Italia.

The one thing my dad didn't tell me though, Kid is also the CEO of his own company. Which makes a huge difference in my perception towards him. But who knew Kid Chan never really studied to be a photographer, he studied International Business at Curtin University of Technology, Perth but due to his passion for photography, he decided to pursue a apprenticeship at a photography firm.

Thankfully us, we now have such pictures like this due to his perseverance:

(The Living Legend acknowledges he took those photographs from Kid's blog)
