Apologies fellow readers and occasional by-passers, as this blog has been severely abandoned for the past month or so. The first reason was partly due to the unexciting lifestyle I led, which included daily trips to the library and non-exisiting trips to the grocery store. Secondly, was due to my final two assignments that I subsequently decided to isolate myself from the world for exactly two weeks (I was so touched with all the enquiries regarding my whereabouts).
Anyway, on the 31st of October, just before I came back to Malaysia, I decided to go on a little holiday to the sunshine state of Queensland, Australia. Boy oh boy does that place lights up! at 430AM, it is super bright, so much so me and my dad consistently thought we overslept.
Anyway, as my dad was heading over there with the Maxis Team Golf Finalist and sponsors, I thought I might as well join them. However, I had a good 5-6 hours to kill before their flight touched down in Brisbane. So what I decided to do was to explore the city a bit.
No airport matches the exclusivity of KLIA
Brisbane's lovely Victorian architecture
One of the very first things that I decided to do was to go check out a university that I very nearly enrolled into: Queensland University of Technology (QUT), which was just on the edge of the city.
Nerdy I know but I needed to know if I made the right choice in coming to RMIT.
While the pictures above are just a few snapshots of what the university looks like, I have to admit that I felt a little saddened by the tremendous campus culture QUT had as opposed to RMIT. While rankings, reputation and the word of mouth still favours RMIT, QUT has a campus culture that RMIT will never have.
After hours of waiting for my dad's arrival in Brisbane, we along with the rest of the group headed to the Gold Coast. Once we arrived and checked in nicely into our rooms, the Malaysians immediately headed for some familiar cuisines.
Typical Malaysians, all it took was a 8 hour plane ride for them to miss home-cooked food.
The Sponsors: HP, Open Wave, IBM, Nokia-Siemens, Ericsson, Huawei, Astro and a few more that I can't remember
Below was out beautiful 21st floor hotel room at the Holiday Inn.
In conclusion, my short period at Brisbane was indeed an eye-opener on how different Australian cities are at different states. While they might all have the same outlook from afar, they are actually much more unique up close.
